French regulators now require cloud platforms to meet stringent sovereignty standards beyond data residency, including access controls and jurisdictional governance. The new partnership between Snowflake and Bleu aims to meet these evolving requirements by integrating Bleu’s nationally operated infrastructure with Snowflake’s AI capabilities. Bleu’s cloud is designed to be auditable by ANSSI and holds certifications such as ISO 27001 and HDS, positioning it as a trusted foundation for sensitive workloads in France.

The collaboration will enable Snowflake customers to store data in customer-controlled, S3-compatible storage within Bleu’s sovereign cloud environment. Data will be stored using Apache Iceberg, an open table format, ensuring accessibility even if provider relationships change, thereby reducing risks associated with vendor lock-in or service discontinuation.

Snowflake Cortex AI will provide access to a broad portfolio of models through a single API, allowing customers to switch models without altering application code or data pipelines. This flexibility addresses potential disruptions from regional unavailability or provider changes, supporting continuity in regulated environments.

Snowflake’s existing compliance portfolio includes certifications such as BSI C5, ISO 27001/27017/27018, SOC 2 Type II, and HDS, reflecting its commitment to global regulated markets. The partnership with Bleu is positioned to extend these capabilities within France’s sovereign cloud framework, targeting industries with stringent compliance demands.
