Private connectivity provisioning time is reduced from five-to-eight months to preconfigured access during customer setup.

Snowflake and Lumen Technologies announced a partnership to provide regulated enterprises with a private connectivity path, enabling secure data transfer from data centers and edge locations to Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud. The solution combines Lumen’s programmable network with Snowflake’s Data Connectivity Proxy (DCP), designed to simplify connectivity for organizations in healthcare, financial services, telecom, and government sectors. Historically, such transfers required extensive provisioning and coordination across multiple teams, often delaying AI and analytics initiatives.

The collaboration introduces a containerized version of Snowflake’s DCP that runs on Lumen’s infrastructure, establishing a secure, private data path without exposing data to the internet. The workflow integrates DCP with Snowflake Openflow to move data from supported sources into Snowflake, unlocking stranded data for AI and analytics. Regulated industries can now replicate sensitive data, such as Electronic Health Records or transaction records, into Snowflake while enforcing strict security controls.

The solution aims to reduce the typical five-to-eight-month lead time for private connectivity provisioning by offering preconfigured access during customer setup. This eliminates the need for prolonged coordination between networking, security, and data platform teams, streamlining the process for enterprises. By bringing connectivity and processing closer to where data is generated, organizations can accelerate AI-driven insights without compromising governance or compliance requirements.

Snowflake and Lumen emphasize that the partnership addresses a critical bottleneck in enterprise AI, where valuable data remains inaccessible due to security and compliance constraints. The offering enables AI agents to query distributed data alongside cloud sources, supporting centralized security and governance. Customers are encouraged to contact their Snowflake account teams for further details on implementation and potential benefits for their analytics and AI initiatives.
