Daya Partners With Sui To Enable Gasless, Stablecoin-Powered Payments Across Africa
Daya integrates Sui’s blockchain to enable gasless stablecoin payments for African businesses, aiming to reduce cross-border transaction costs and expand across Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, and Kenya.
Daya, a financial platform serving African businesses and developers, has integrated Sui’s blockchain as its settlement infrastructure, enabling gasless stablecoin transfers for cross-border payments and treasury management. The integration is live across Daya’s product suite, including Daya Business, Daya Pro, and Daya APIs, and is currently operational in Nigeria, where Daya holds the necessary licenses. The partnership allows businesses to send stablecoin payments without incurring gas fees or requiring knowledge of native network tokens, addressing a key barrier to blockchain adoption in the region.
Daya’s expansion plans include South Africa, Ghana, and Kenya, following its established presence in Nigeria’s fintech sector. The platform offers three core products: Daya Business for global payments and treasury management, Daya Pro as a liquidity and foreign exchange engine, and Daya APIs for fintechs and enterprises to build on the same infrastructure. Daya’s team, with experience in African markets and stablecoin infrastructure, will participate in Sui’s annual Basecamp event.
Sui’s blockchain enables gasless stablecoin transfers, reducing transaction costs for African SMEs and improving cash flow for reinvestment. The integration removes the need for businesses to hold or understand native network tokens, simplifying user experience. Daya’s CEO, Tomiwa "Aleph" Lasebikan, highlighted the partnership’s role in making stablecoin payments accessible to millions of African businesses without fee barriers.
Sui’s object-oriented blockchain model supports high-performance applications, including payments and treasury management. The collaboration aligns with Sui’s mission to deliver a global financial infrastructure, with Daya leveraging Sui’s network to power its products. Adeniyi Abiodun, Co-Founder and CPO of Mysten Labs, emphasized the significance of gasless transfers in overcoming blockchain payment barriers for real businesses.
