Government’s digital employment tools help thousands take the next step into work
The UK Government’s Work Hub digital platform has supported tens of thousands of jobseekers since June, offering free tools to build CVs, prepare for interviews and search for jobs.
The Department for Work and Pensions launched the Work Hub this summer as a free digital service accessible via phone, tablet or computer, designed to provide employment support anywhere. The platform includes tools to create CVs tailored for online recruitment, search and apply for jobs, prepare for interviews and identify training opportunities. Around 20,000 people have used the ‘Build a CV’ tool to convert their skills and experience into professional applications suited to their target roles.
The AI Work Assistant, used by approximately 16,000 people, offers personalised guidance on job searches, applications, interview preparation and career development. Work Coaches like Lance in Bognor Regis integrate the tool into appointments to support young people exploring career pathways and developing skills. The platform complements face-to-face support available through Jobcentres while expanding access to advice beyond physical locations.
Jobseeker Hugh secured employment after struggling to receive responses due to an outdated CV format. Introduced to the Work Hub’s CV Builder by a DWP recruitment consultant, he adapted his application to modern recruitment processes and received significantly more responses within weeks. The tool enabled him to effectively communicate his skills and experience, leading to a successful job offer.
Employers can use the Work Hub to advertise vacancies, access recruitment advice and connect with local labour markets. The platform supports faster and fairer hiring while addressing labour and skills shortages by matching employers with suitable candidates. The ‘Build a CV’ tool is available to all, regardless of DWP customer status.
