Vercel Shop, an open-source Next.js storefront template for Shopify, is now generally available, enabling teams to launch storefronts optimized for human shoppers, search engines, and shopping agents. The template is built on Shopify’s Hydrogen SDK, which provides access to product catalogs, cart and order management, payments, and checkout for custom storefront development. Earlier this year, Vercel and Shopify announced plans to rebuild Hydrogen to work across JavaScript frameworks, and the rebuilt SDK is now generally available.

Vercel Shop makes product pages machine-readable, including details like price, availability, and options, allowing the same URL to serve both visual pages for people and structured data for agents. The template includes structured data embedded in pages and sitemaps to help search and answer engines discover and understand products more effectively.

Shopify co-developed the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), which provides agents with a standard way to search a store’s catalog, read product details, check availability, build a cart, and obtain a checkout link. Vercel Shop makes these capabilities discoverable at the merchant’s domain, enabling agents to use MCP to search products and build carts without navigating the site.

Vercel Shop integrates the store’s product catalog, cart, and checkout with a Next.js storefront, agent-friendly product information, and a shopping assistant powered by eve. The storefront and assistant share the same codebase, allowing teams to customize both design and shopping assistance. The template includes skills to guide coding agents through setup, customization, and updates.
