AWS End User Messaging announced a new managed one-time passcode (OTP) verification feature in Notify, eliminating the need for developers to build and maintain their own OTP logic. The service now handles code generation, delivery via SMS, voice, or WhatsApp, and recipient-entered code validation automatically. Users can deploy a complete verification flow in under five minutes without managing phone numbers or carrier registrations.

Previously, developers had to generate OTPs themselves, pass them to Notify for delivery, and manage code expiration and storage. The new feature shifts this responsibility to Notify, which now creates, sends, and verifies codes based on user-defined configurations. This reduces operational overhead and accelerates time-to-market for applications requiring user verification.

Configuration is streamlined through a single notify code configuration, where users set parameters such as code type, length, validity duration, and maximum attempts. Templates can also be defined for each delivery channel, ensuring consistency across SMS, voice, and WhatsApp messages. The system then enforces these rules during code generation and validation.

Notify’s managed OTP verification is available in all commercial AWS Regions where AWS End User Messaging operates. Developers can access documentation and implementation guidance in the AWS End User Messaging User Guide to begin using the feature immediately.
