Edge Requests are now called CDN Requests
Vercel has renamed Edge Requests to CDN Requests without altering pricing, limits, or measurement methods, affecting dashboards, invoices, and APIs.
Vercel announced that the usage metric previously labeled Edge Requests is now called CDN Requests. This change is purely a renaming exercise and does not impact pricing structures, usage limits, or the method of measurement. The updated terminology will appear across the usage dashboard, Observability Events chart, usage notifications, and invoice line items. The company emphasized that this reflects the nature of the requests, which are served by Vercel's CDN infrastructure.
The renaming does not affect underlying metric IDs or product aliases, ensuring that saved queries continue to function without interruption. Users relying on the billing charges API will notice that the ServiceName field now returns the new CDN Requests label. This adjustment maintains consistency with the updated naming convention across all billing-related outputs.
Vercel advised integrations that currently match charges based on the ServiceName field to transition to using the SkuId field instead. The SkuId remains stable even if future renames occur, providing a more reliable identifier for charge matching. This guidance aims to prevent disruptions in automated billing integrations.
For further details, Vercel directed users to the updated CDN pricing and usage documentation. The company reiterated that no changes to actual usage, billing amounts, or operational limits are associated with this naming update.
