IKEA and XBOX Team Up on YXSTABY, a New Collection Made for Gaming at Home

IKEA and Xbox have collaborated on the YXSTABY collection, a nine-piece line designed for gaming at home. The pieces integrate performance, comfort, and storage while drawing inspiration from Xbox controller elements. The collection includes items like a thumbstick stool and a D-pad cushion, reimagining familiar gaming forms into functional furniture. Availability begins October 1 in IKEA stores, with online sales following later in the year.

The collection was co-developed by designers from both IKEA and Xbox, ensuring each piece balances style and practicality. Philip Dilé of IKEA emphasized the goal of making gaming feel as natural as other home activities. The partnership aimed to create pieces that reflect the comfort and personalization of gaming culture within everyday living spaces.

Xbox’s Carl Ledbetter highlighted the use of original 3D design files from the Xbox Wireless Controller to shape the collection. Elements like the D-pad and thumbstick were translated into furniture, such as a stainless steel platter and a stool inspired by the controller’s design. The grip texture from the controller was also adapted to enhance stability in seating.

The YXSTABY collection launches in IKEA stores on October 1, with online availability later in the year. Availability may vary by market, and details can be obtained from local IKEA stores. For further insights, an episode of the Official Xbox Podcast will feature the collaboration behind the collection.
