NBA The Run Kicks off its First Season with a Major Update

NBA The Run has launched its first seasonal update, Wave One – 2000s Legends, offering a free expansion that adds five historic NBA stars including Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, and Dirk Nowitzki. The update introduces new gameplay features such as Drive Cam and Drive Flip Cam, Championship Belts for mastery challenges, licensed music curated with input from announcer Bobbito Garcia, and additional roster customization options like alternate jerseys and new courts.

The update also includes Practice Mode and Custom Matches, allowing players to refine skills or experiment with lineups without affecting progression. New camera perspectives like Drive Cam and Drive Flip Cam provide clearer views of passing lanes and court positioning, enhancing gameplay clarity. Licensed tracks from cities featured in the game, including New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Los Angeles, are integrated alongside the option to blend original and licensed music in settings.

Championship Belts serve as a new long-term challenge, earned by winning with individual players across Knockout Tournaments in Squads or Solos modes. Players can track their belt progress in the main menu and compare achievements with friends. The belts add a fresh layer of mastery to the roster, encouraging experimentation with different players and strategies.

Wave One introduces new animations such as driving layups, standing dunks, alley-oops, and advanced dunks, alongside gameplay tuning like reduced goaltending based on community feedback. New courts, taunts, badges, and banners are also added, with additional customization options for players. The update reflects ongoing player-driven improvements, with more features planned, including a Campaign targeted for Spring 2027.
