Star Wars Zero Company, developed by Bit Reactor—founded by veterans of XCOM and Marvel’s Midnight Suns—releases on August 27, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S. The tactics game is set during the Clone Wars and features four adjustable difficulty settings, allowing players to modify challenge levels between missions. The game’s debut aims to attract both Star Wars fans and newcomers to the tactics genre, with a story-forward approach and flexible difficulty options designed to accommodate varying skill levels.
Players are advised to review squad loadouts before missions, ensuring proper weapon mods, utility items, and focus point allocations. Early in the game, limited gear may require frequent equipment swapping between operators. Utility items like grenades and health packs refresh at the start of each battle, so using them immediately is recommended. Saving before critical battles is also suggested, as autosaves occur only at the start of cycles, meaning mistakes may require replaying some plot and administrative steps.
The game emphasizes strategic turn management, allowing players to interleave individual action points rather than executing all actions at once. Players should assess threats, eliminate high-priority targets, and maximize value from each turn. A key feature is the generation of additional action points beyond the baseline three per turn, through abilities like free assists, coordinated support, and refund mechanics such as Kabb’s Uppercut. Combining these abilities can lead to highly effective turns with more than three actions per character.
Map mechanics play a significant role, with bottomless voids and environmental hazards providing opportunities to eliminate enemies without direct combat. Players are encouraged to use abilities that push enemies off platforms or into hazards. Mission objectives often require reaching extraction zones, with new threats appearing until the team arrives. Flexible character customization in the Den allows players to adjust specializations, weapons, and talents, enabling experimentation with different builds and team compositions with minimal opportunity cost.
