Since its March launch, Crimson Desert has grown through updates and new content, including boss rematches and player-driven features across Pywel. The free Patch Version 2.00 in August introduced expanded story moments and additional voice-over and language support, culminating in the Crimson Desert Enhanced release. Now, the Charting the Unknown DLC further broadens the game’s scope by adding three new storylines for Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane, each pursuing independent paths after the Greymanes’ central conflict.

Charting the Unknown introduces ocean exploration for the first time, allowing players to dive into underwater ruins, uncover treasure chests, and encounter new creatures and mounts. Players can also build and customize their own ship to sail the Great Ocean of Pywel, expanding travel and discovery options beyond the land-based world.

The DLC deepens player engagement with Pywel’s inhabitants through new relationship mechanics, including romance and marriage, alongside an upgraded housing system that offers full interior and exterior customization. Liberated castles can be claimed and decorated, while facilities like restaurants and smithies can be leased and managed, giving players operational control over strongholds.

For combat-focused players, the Garden of Trials presents a challenge mode where bosses from across Pywel are faced in succession. A 5-hour free trial of the base game is available for Xbox players from October 29 through January 6, encouraging new and returning players to explore the expanded world.
