Grok automation: How to use the Zapier Grok integration (Grok 4.7, Grok Bot, and more)
Zapier’s new Grok integration lets users automate Grok tasks within existing workflows or inside Grok Bot, connecting to over 9,000 apps without leaving the chat interface.
Grok’s integration with Zapier allows users to embed Grok steps into existing Zaps, enabling tasks like research, analysis, or image generation when triggered by other apps. This approach avoids running Grok on every step, reducing unnecessary token usage while leveraging its reasoning capabilities where needed. For example, a new lead in Salesforce can automatically trigger Grok to summarize recent news about the company and log it back to the CRM before a sales call.
The integration supports additional functions such as categorizing text, extracting data, and generating images by connecting a SpaceXSI account for Grok usage billing. Alternatively, users can opt for AI by Zapier models, which require no separate account or token billing. Practical examples include turning briefs into outlines, tracking trending topics, or creating images from spreadsheet prompts for use in presentations or social media.
Users can also configure Grok to read and extract data from uploaded images, such as receipts or reports, and send key details to Slack or Google Sheets. This feature streamlines workflows by automating data extraction without manual input. The integration is designed to handle repetitive tasks reliably while incorporating Grok’s reasoning where appropriate.
For those using Grok Bot or Grok Build, the Zapier connector provides governed access to over 9,000 apps directly within the chat interface. Setup is initiated inside Grok, where users can authorize Cursor (Grok Bot) and configure allowed actions. Once connected, Grok can perform tasks like checking trending topics on X or updating a Notion content calendar, with all actions drawing from the user’s existing Zapier task allowance.
