Hyundai’s IONIQ 3 has been shortlisted as one of seven finalists for the European Car of the Year 2027 award, with the winner to be announced in January 2027.
Hyundai Motor’s all-electric IONIQ 3 has been selected as one of seven finalists for the European Car of the Year 2027 award by an independent jury of 65 European automotive journalists. The nomination recognizes the vehicle’s design, innovation, and value for money among new models eligible for the competition. The winner will be revealed on 8 January 2027 at the Brussels Motor Show, marking a key moment in the award’s 62-year history.
The IONIQ 3 was designed in Europe and is produced at Hyundai Motor Türkiye’s İzmit plant, tailored specifically for European customers. The fully electric compact hatchback features a driving range of up to 497 km (WLTP) in its Long Range version and starts at a price below €30,000 across European markets. Its ‘Art of Steel’ design language, spacious interior, and intuitive technology aim to make electric mobility more accessible.
A company spokesperson highlighted the IONIQ 3’s class-leading aerodynamics, strong driving range, and exceptional interior space as key strengths. Orders have already exceeded initial expectations, reflecting strong customer response. The nomination underscores Hyundai’s ambition to make electric mobility both desirable and practical for a broader audience.
The European Car of the Year award, established in 1964, evaluates new vehicles based on design, innovation, performance, value for money, and market positioning.
