Amazon ECR now supports 25 replication rules per registry
Amazon ECR has raised the replication rule limit per registry from 10 to 25, allowing customers to distribute container images across more regions and accounts without consolidating configurations.
Amazon Elastic Container Registry (Amazon ECR) has increased the maximum number of replication rules per registry from 10 to 25. Previously, customers with multi-region or multi-account setups were limited to 10 rules, which often required consolidating replication strategies to stay within the constraint. This update removes that barrier, enabling more granular control over image distribution. The change applies to all AWS Regions where Amazon ECR is available.
The expanded limit allows customers to implement more precise replication strategies, such as distributing images across additional regions to reduce latency for end users. It also supports replicating images to multiple production and staging accounts without merging configurations. This flexibility is particularly useful for organizations managing complex deployment pipelines across different environments.
Customers can now define up to 25 replication rules per registry, replacing the previous cap of 10. This adjustment addresses feedback from users who needed finer-grained control over image replication without consolidating rules. The update is available immediately in all supported AWS Regions.
To implement the new limit, customers should review their existing replication configurations and adjust rules as needed.
