Amazon SageMaker Studio simplifies getting started for new AI/ML builders with social sign-in
Amazon SageMaker Studio now allows new users to sign in with Google, GitHub, or Apple credentials, bypassing traditional AWS account setup and credit card requirements to access a pre-configured environment.
Amazon SageMaker Studio has introduced social sign-in for new customers, enabling them to register using existing credentials from Google, GitHub, or Apple. This eliminates the need for a traditional AWS account setup, credit card provision, or manual navigation through the AWS Console. Users can now bypass multi-step registration and immediately access a fully configured Studio environment. The change aims to reduce friction for those exploring AI and machine learning tools without prior AWS experience.
Previously, new users had to complete a cumbersome process involving AWS account creation, credit card submission, and manual configuration of SageMaker AI within the AWS Console. Earlier improvements reduced setup time to twenty seconds and introduced deep links from Hugging Face and AWS product pages to streamline access. The new social sign-in feature further simplifies onboarding by allowing users to sign up with familiar credentials and receive free credits under the AWS Free Tier without a credit card.
Once signed in, users arrive in a ready-to-use SageMaker Studio environment where they can immediately fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy foundation models. Team members can be invited via email, and collaborators can sign in with their own social credentials to access shared resources such as models, notebooks, and endpoints. This removes the need for configuring IAM users or permissions, simplifying collaboration for new and existing users alike.
For projects exceeding free credits, users can upgrade to a paid plan and set a spend limit to manage costs. Verified customers retain default GPU access to G5, G6, G6e, and G4dn instances across deployments without requesting quota increases. The feature is available in all AWS Commercial Regions where SageMaker Studio is supported. To begin, users can select options like 'Customize and Deploy on SageMaker AI' on Hugging Face or visit the SageMaker Studio page.
