AWS Transform for migrations automates post-launch actions
AWS Transform now automates post-launch actions in migration workflows, reducing manual configuration errors and accelerating multi-account server migrations through predefined or custom SSM documents.
AWS Transform has introduced automation for post-launch actions within migration workflows, enabling users to define configurations at the account level and apply them automatically across all source servers in target accounts. This eliminates the need for server-by-server setup, streamlining the process and reducing manual effort. The automation runs through AWS Systems Manager (SSM) immediately after test or cutover launches, supporting both predefined actions and custom SSM documents.
The migration inventory file has been updated to include a new structure for post-launch actions, allowing teams to review and modify configurations per source server more efficiently. This change simplifies bulk management of post-launch tasks, ensuring consistency and reducing the risk of errors during migrations. The updated structure is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing migration workflows.
The AWS Transform for migrations agent now handles end-to-end migration configuration, including replication templates, EC2 launch templates, EC2 right-sizing, and post-launch actions. Users can create, edit, and manage these configurations at the source server level, providing greater flexibility and control over the migration process. This automation reduces the operational overhead associated with large-scale migrations.
