Claude Haiku 5.5 is now available on AWS GovCloud (US)
AWS GovCloud (US) now provides access to Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 5.5, a cost-efficient model optimized for high-volume, real-time tasks and subagent workflows.
AWS GovCloud (US) has made Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 5.5 available, positioning it as the fastest and most efficient model in the Claude 5.5 family. Designed for subagents and high-volume, cost-sensitive workloads, Haiku 5.5 is intended to handle tasks where speed and affordability are critical. The model is positioned to support real-time applications such as voice agents, live support systems, and in-app assistants, as well as large-scale operations like document classification and data extraction.
According to Anthropic, Claude Haiku 5.5 delivers approximately 75% cost savings compared to Haiku 4.5 for most tasks, reflecting a substantial reduction in operational expenses. The model introduces effort controls, allowing teams to balance computational cost against performance for individual tasks. This feature enables more granular control over resource allocation while maintaining output quality.
Claude Haiku 5.5 is described as Anthropic’s most capable Haiku model to date, with notable improvements in coding, tool use, computer interaction, and agent-based workflows. Its enhanced capabilities make it suitable for deployment as a fast, cost-efficient subagent within larger AI systems. This allows higher-level models like Claude Opus 5.5 to delegate well-defined tasks to Haiku, enabling parallel agent execution.
Access to Haiku 5.5 on AWS GovCloud (US) is provided through Amazon Bedrock, which ensures data residency within AWS infrastructure and offers regional compliance. The service includes AWS-managed features such as Guardrails and Knowledge Bases, streamlining deployment while maintaining security and governance standards.
