Claude Opus 5.5 is now available on AWS GovCloud (US)

AWS GovCloud (US) has introduced support for Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5.5, the latest and most capable model in the Opus family. Designed for enterprise use, the model excels at long-running coding and knowledge tasks, delivering clear updates on progress, findings, and next steps. It is positioned as a significant upgrade over its predecessor, Opus 5, with enhanced performance tailored for team collaboration.

Anthropic states that Claude Opus 5.5 achieves task completion using fewer tokens than Opus 5 while offering a lower price per token. Additional cost savings are available through cheaper cache reads, further improving efficiency for enterprise workloads. The model dynamically adjusts its effort level for each request, optimizing resource allocation based on task complexity.

Amazon Bedrock provides access to Claude Opus 5.5 with zero data retention (ZDR) enabled by default, ensuring customer data remains within AWS infrastructure. Regional data residency is supported, and the service integrates with AWS-managed features such as Guardrails and Knowledge Bases for enhanced security and functionality.
