BT joins Anthropic’s Project Glasswing to strengthen cyber defences with frontier AI
BT has joined Anthropic’s Project Glasswing to access frontier AI for cybersecurity, becoming the first UK company to do so. The initiative aims to strengthen defences against cyber threats for critical infrastructure.
BT confirmed its membership of Anthropic’s Project Glasswing, gaining access to the Claude Mythos Preview AI model to enhance cybersecurity for its networks and customers. The project involves critical infrastructure providers collaborating to identify and address vulnerabilities before they can be exploited by criminals. BT’s participation reflects its role in securing UK infrastructure and its position as a leading provider of security managed services, handling four million cyber-attacks daily.
BT Chief Executive Allison Kirkby announced the partnership during the UK Government’s AI Adoption Summit, highlighting the importance of secure, resilient networks for AI scalability. She emphasised BT’s commitment to supporting sovereign British AI development and responsible adoption, aligning with government efforts to position the UK as an AI innovator rather than just a consumer.
Jon James, CEO of BT Business, stated that AI is rapidly transforming cybersecurity, requiring trusted partners to help businesses stay ahead of threats. BT’s involvement in Project Glasswing will bolster its ability to protect networks, customers, and the broader UK infrastructure from evolving cyber risks.
