Cadillac announce Marcin Budkowski as new Team Principal
Cadillac has appointed Marcin Budkowski as Team Principal, replacing Graeme Lowdon, as the team transitions from its initial Formula 1 build phase to a focus on racing performance.
Cadillac has named Marcin Budkowski as its new Team Principal, succeeding Graeme Lowdon. Budkowski, previously Executive Director of Alpine until 2022, returns to Formula 1 after working as a television pundit in Poland. His appointment marks a leadership change for the American squad as they prepare for the second half of their debut season in the sport.
Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss highlighted Budkowski’s experience and strategic leadership as key assets for the team’s future. Towriss stated that Budkowski’s appointment aligns with the team’s goal of building a competitive organization capable of long-term success in Formula 1. He also expressed gratitude to Lowdon for his foundational role in establishing the team.
Budkowski emphasized the team’s ambition and the opportunity ahead, focusing on maximizing car development within the cost cap. He outlined his priorities as aligning personnel, tools, and processes to improve performance and execute decisions efficiently during races. His tenure begins ahead of the upcoming Zandvoort Grand Prix.
Budkowski brings extensive experience from roles at Alpine, the FIA, Prost, Ferrari, and McLaren, spanning engineering and leadership. Cadillac described the transition as part of a planned leadership shift as the team moves from its initial build phase into a new stage centered on racing performance.
