Expression Games, the developer behind Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, has opened a physical studio in Manchester, citing both staff needs and co-development partner requirements as key factors. CEO Errol Ismail stated the move aligns with long-term growth plans while preserving the studio’s remote-first culture. The studio will not enforce office attendance or fixed hours, allowing employees to choose how they use the space. Ismail emphasized the office’s role as a creative hub rather than a replacement for remote work.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam has sold over one million units since its August release, according to the company. Expression also confirmed two years of co-development work with Fuse Games on Star Wars Galactic Racer. The studio was founded in 2022 following the departure of Ismail and other key figures from Fabrik after its acquisition by Firesprite. Expression has since been recognized as a regular winner at the GamesIndustry.biz Best Places To Work Awards.

The Manchester studio is designed to foster in-person collaboration and support talent development, with Ismail highlighting the city’s creative industry and lifestyle appeal. Slightly over half of the current team are within commuting distance of the office. The Northern Quarter was chosen for its vibrant atmosphere and proximity to other creative businesses, aligning with the studio’s flexible work policies.

Ismail noted the office will also facilitate future co-development projects requiring physical infrastructure, such as hosting sensitive project data. The studio plans to strengthen ties with local universities, including Manchester Metropolitan University, to support talent development. This move reflects the studio’s broader strategy to balance remote work with in-person collaboration and educational partnerships.
