The Grand Prix Resonance marks the third edition of the Resonance residency programme, a fully funded two-month residency at CERN for Geneva-based artists exploring intersections between art, science and technology. This year’s edition expands the programme to include two artists or an artist collective, who will collaborate on a joint project. The residency coincides with the 15th anniversaries of the Higgs boson discovery and the Arts at CERN programme’s launch, adding historical significance to the initiative.

For the first time, the open call invites applications from two artists or a collective, with a focus on digital, multimedia and transmedia practices, including sound-based and immersive approaches. Selected participants will engage with CERN’s scientific community, accessing experiments and facilities to develop their projects. The residency offers a tailored programme curated by Arts at CERN, fostering close dialogue with scientists and engineers.

The Grand Prix Resonance includes an increased grant for the development and production of a new artwork, reflecting the programme’s commitment to supporting artistic innovation. Applications must be submitted via an online form on the Arts at CERN website by 23 November. The selection process will prioritise projects that integrate a research phase with the production of an artwork.

The residency is part of a 2024–2027 partnership between CERN, the City of Geneva and the Republic and Canton of Geneva. The programme aims to deepen collaborations between the arts and sciences, offering artists a unique opportunity to work within a leading scientific research environment.
