Have more fun at the state fair with these Google tools
Google introduced tools to help attendees plan state fair visits, including AI itineraries, real-time navigation, food discovery, and photo keepsakes, with in-person demos at select fairs.
Google is offering tools to streamline state fair visits, including AI-powered itinerary planning through Gemini, which generates customized schedules based on user preferences such as concerts, farm exhibits, and rest stops. The feature aims to reduce time spent navigating and maximize time enjoying activities. Users can input details like companions and dietary needs to receive tailored plans. The tool is designed to help fairgoers avoid delays and efficiently explore fairgrounds.
Real-time navigation is enhanced by Ask Maps, a Gemini-powered feature in Google Maps that provides live updates on route incidents, delays, and on-site amenities like charging stations or water refill spots. This tool helps users adjust plans dynamically and locate essential services without leaving main attractions. The feature is intended to minimize stress and improve the overall fair experience by offering up-to-date information.
For food enthusiasts, Google’s AI Mode in Search highlights top-rated foods-on-a-stick and dietary-specific options at state fairs. The tool addresses rising interest in new and specialty foods, as evidenced by a 600% increase in searches for "state fair new food" over the past month. Users can quickly find recommended vendors, reducing guesswork and ensuring they sample the best local offerings during their visit.
Attendees can also use Google’s camera-based features to learn about exhibits or create personalized keepsakes. Pointing the camera at landmarks, such as Iowa’s butter sculpture, provides real-time information via Gemini Live or Search Live. Additionally, users can transform photos into creative content, like vintage postcards or simulated rodeo scenes, using AI. In-person demos will be available at Gemini Visitor Centers in Iowa (August 13-15), Minnesota (August 27-29), and Texas (October 9-10).
