Lakebase Postgres is now generally available on Google Cloud
Databricks announced general availability of Lakebase Postgres on Google Cloud, offering a fully managed, serverless Postgres database integrated with the Databricks Data + AI Platform.
Lakebase Postgres is now generally available on Google Cloud, providing teams with a fully managed, serverless Postgres database directly on the Databricks Data + AI Platform. This integration allows production-grade workloads to run alongside analytical and AI workloads without the need for separate infrastructure or pipelines. The architecture separates compute from storage, eliminating traditional database resource conflicts and reducing overhead.
The Lakebase architecture shares the same storage layer as analytical data, removing the need to build and maintain ETL pipelines. This unified approach enables applications to scale with demand while maintaining a single governance model across the data estate. Operational workloads benefit from real-time data access, eliminating data lag and siloed database management.
Lakebase Postgres is part of the Lake Transactional/Analytical Processing (LTAP) architecture, designed to unify data foundations and reduce operational overhead. It provides a production-ready foundation for next-generation applications and AI agents, with no infrastructure to manage and no pipelines to maintain. The service is available in select Google Cloud regions as of general availability.
Teams can create their first Lakebase project from the Databricks workspace on Google Cloud and connect with existing Postgres tools. The integration supports faster development cycles, with no infrastructure management or pipeline maintenance required. New users can start building for free through the Databricks platform.
