XREAL AURA: Wired XR glasses to watch, work, and play

Google and XREAL have introduced XREAL AURA, the first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR, available for order in the U.S., Canada, and Korea starting today, with Japan availability beginning November 2. The glasses project apps and content onto a transparent lens while allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings. A lightweight design under 95 grams is achieved by offloading processing to a portable compute puck connected via cable, which houses the battery and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform.

The glasses feature a 70-degree field of view and support multiple app windows that can be arranged in the user’s environment, including documents, browsers, and streaming services. Users can connect a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse, or use the puck as a trackpad, to create a multi-monitor setup anywhere. Wired Mirroring allows laptops to connect via USB-C, displaying the laptop screen as a resizable window alongside Android XR apps, with no additional software required.

Gemini on Android XR assists users by understanding their activities across real-world and digital spaces, enabling tasks such as organizing windows or providing contextual help. The assistant can also analyze the user’s view, highlighting relevant details in the environment or on screen. Content options include immersive videos, 3D movies, and new XR-specific productions like “Nevatars” and “Galapagos: the Last Eden,” with spatial viewing available for higher-resolution media.

XREAL AURA supports gaming through Android titles, PC or console streaming via Wired Mirroring, and XR-native games like Fallout Factions and Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars. The glasses also integrate with Google Photos’ new spatial gallery, allowing users to view memories in 3D. Launch pricing starts at USD 1,099, with orders available at xreal.com/aura and BestBuy.com in the U.S., and shipments beginning in mid-November.
