Hyundai Motor Group announced a USD 15.5 billion investment plan for India spanning 2026 to 2032, positioning the country as a core market for future growth and innovation. The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hyundai Executive Chair Euisun Chung in New Delhi, underscoring the Group’s commitment to India’s automotive sector. The seven-year plan includes expanding manufacturing, developing R&D infrastructure, and cultivating local suppliers to build a comprehensive automotive ecosystem. A dedicated Indian investment entity will coordinate these efforts, fostering partnerships and supporting local talent development.

The investment aims to create high-quality jobs across manufacturing, R&D, engineering, and supply chain sectors, with Hyundai currently employing over 24,000 people in India. Beyond direct employment, the initiative is expected to stimulate broader job creation through supplier partnerships and emerging mobility ventures. The Group also plans to enhance India’s talent pool in advanced automotive technologies, contributing to the country’s economic growth. Social initiatives, including disability inclusion campaigns and vocational training programs, reflect Hyundai’s long-term commitment to India.

Hyundai Motor Group’s existing manufacturing capacity in India exceeds 1.4 million vehicles annually, with facilities in Chennai, Pune, and Anantapur. The Pune plant’s capacity will be scaled up in phases, further expanding the Group’s footprint. Affiliates such as Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai Transys, and Hyundai Wia operate component and service operations, supporting the broader automotive ecosystem. The Group’s mid-to-long-term strategy prioritizes India as a critical growth platform amid the country’s rapidly expanding automotive market.

The Group has contributed approximately USD 110 million to social welfare, education, and skill development programs in India since 2016. Initiatives like the Samarth campaign and the planned Hyundai Academy for Technical Skills (HATS) in Chennai underscore Hyundai’s focus on community development. Hyundai Motor Group, with about 250,000 employees worldwide, operates mobility brands including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, emphasizing innovation and collaboration in its global operations.
