Hyundai Motor Group announced a KRW 42 trillion investment plan over 10 years to transform the Yeongnam region into a center for advanced industries, including AI-driven manufacturing, aerospace, and energy infrastructure. The initiative involves collaborations with government ministries and five local authorities to foster regional development, create jobs, and enhance Korea’s economic competitiveness. The Group will upgrade its Ulsan plant—the world’s largest integrated automotive facility—into a hub for future mobility, including an AI DV manufacturing center and an EV-dedicated plant launching in Q4 2026. Hyundai Mobis will establish battery system and motor production lines in Ulsan and Daegu, respectively, while Hyundai Wia will build an EV thermal management system plant in Changwon by 2030. Hyundai Motor Group will develop a hydrogen fuel cell plant in Ulsan to support hydrogen mobility and clean energy expansion, producing next-generation fuel cells and PEM water electrolysis systems for export. The Group also plans to diversify energy sources by investing in small modular reactors, offshore wind power, and water electrolysis plants, positioning these as future export solutions to bolster Korea’s industrial resilience.
