L3Harris Achieves Historic First Flight Success with Perimeter Truss Reflector Technology

L3Harris Technologies announced the first successful deployment of its perimeter truss reflector onboard the ViaSat-3 Flight 3 satellite, launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 29, 2026. The reflector supports high-speed broadband connectivity across the Asia-Pacific region, marking a significant milestone for L3Harris’ antenna technology. Wes Langston, Vice President and General Manager of Surveillance Systems at L3Harris, stated the reflector is 30% more compact than industry standards while maintaining high surface precision to maximize data capacity and performance.

The perimeter truss reflector features a reflective mesh surface designed to maximize antenna gain and improve performance for advanced communications services. L3Harris builds these reflectors, including the ViaSat-3 F3’s model, at its facility in Palm Bay, Florida. The company has delivered over 130 large deployable reflectors and continues advancing space antenna technology.

L3Harris Technologies supplies large deployable mesh reflector apertures and antenna systems spanning UHF-Band through Ka-Band frequencies. The company emphasizes reliability in extreme space conditions, with its antennas performing consistently in operational environments. The successful deployment follows rigorous testing and validation processes to ensure mission readiness.

Separately, the U.S. Space Force declared the L3Harris Technologies Meadowlands System operationally accepted, marking a critical milestone in space electromagnetic warfare capabilities.
