Meta announced the “One Step Ahead” campaign to address rising scam sophistication through education, emphasizing practical, actionable safety advice delivered by trusted local partners. The initiative was developed alongside over 25 regional safety organizations, law enforcement agencies, and government bodies to ensure credibility and relevance across 18 countries. Campaign materials were distributed on Facebook and Instagram, focusing on three core principles: practicality, ease of action, and trustworthiness in safety guidance. Since its May 2026 launch, the campaign has achieved significant reach, with over 303 million people exposed to its content.
The campaign highlights Meta’s built-in security tools, encouraging users to leverage platform features to enhance their online safety. A central component, “Know Your Local Resources,” connects users directly to trusted local organizations for reporting scams and accessing support in 14 markets. This element alone reached more than 27.4 million people, demonstrating the campaign’s localized approach to combating fraud. Partners include government agencies, law enforcement, and regional safety groups collaborating to reinforce anti-scam education.
Meta emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling scams, noting that partnerships with respected local entities extend reach and credibility. The campaign’s ongoing efforts in 2026 include rolling out new tools and tailored resources across the region, with additional partnerships planned. This reflects Meta’s commitment to continuous education as scammers adapt their tactics, ensuring users remain informed and protected.
Users can access guidance on protecting their accounts through Meta’s Scam Protection Center, which provides centralized resources for recognizing and reporting scams. The campaign underscores the need for sustained education and tool development to stay ahead of evolving fraudulent activities.
