OpenAI Academy introduces role-based learning paths to help employees, developers, leaders, educators, and students build practical AI skills and demonstrate what they’ve learned. The courses emphasize applying AI safely and effectively to real tasks, whether improving workflows, building products, leading teams, or teaching classes. Organizations can now choose from multiple pathways, including Apply AI at Work, which focuses on foundational skills and workflow creation. Learners earn a course badge by passing assessments, reinforcing their practical understanding of AI tools.
The Apply AI at Work pathway teaches employees to give clear instructions, add context, and review responses while turning successful approaches into reusable workflows. As learners advance, they practice delegating larger tasks to agents, deciding what to delegate, and incorporating checkpoints and human review. This pathway supports employees in handling more complex tasks while maintaining responsibility for outcomes. The Build with AI pathway targets developers and technical teams using Codex or the OpenAI API, covering software development lifecycle planning, solution design, evaluations, and operating AI systems in production.
The AI Leadership course, part of Lead AI Adoption, helps leaders assess where AI can create business value, define ownership and governance, and develop AI strategies and roadmaps. AI for Educators and AI for College Students extend the portfolio to teaching and career preparation.
