Helldivers 2: A deep dive into the Illuminate Void

Arrowhead Game Studios has launched the 'Census Thunder' campaign, where Helldivers secured Voteless tissue samples to aid Super Earth’s Ministry of Science in opening a wormhole into the Void. This gateway, stabilized on Rirga Bay, now allows access to a previously unreachable region of space. The Void presents a hostile environment with no stars, where planets have been transformed and corrupted by the Illuminate. Players must navigate these altered worlds to document and destroy Illuminate structures and technologies.

Inside the Void, Helldivers face randomized primary objectives across multiple planets, requiring quick decision-making and teamwork to complete missions safely. The update introduces new threats, including the Wretch, Crusher, and mutated flora, as well as the former planet Seasse, now consumed by the Void’s corruption. Players must liberate Seasse while avoiding its hazardous environments and hostile creatures. Secondary extraction zones can be unlocked to provide alternative escape routes, enhancing survival chances during missions.

The 'Devoid of Liberty' update, now live, expands Helldivers 2 with new challenges and objectives within the Void. Players are tasked with uncovering the source of the anomaly and documenting Illuminate war crimes. SEAF support squads will assist in reconnaissance and uncovering hidden truths, adding strategic depth to missions. The update emphasizes teamwork and adaptability in navigating the Void’s dangers.

To access the Void, players need an internet connection and a paid-for console subscription, sold separately. The update marks a significant expansion for Helldivers 2, offering new gameplay mechanics and objectives.
