Magic: The Gathering Is Reprinting a Powerful $30 Sword With Perfect Pixel Art
Magic: The Gathering will reprint Sword of Truth and Justice and Balefire Dragon in a November Secret Lair drop, with proceeds supporting children's hospitals.
Wizards of the Coast announced on November 3 that Sword of Truth and Justice, a 2019 card valued near $30, will return in the Rise of the Polygons | Extra Life 2026 Secret Lair collection. The drop draws on late-'90s console aesthetics, featuring low-polygon art reminiscent of Nintendo 64 and original PlayStation titles. The $39.99 non-foil set includes four reprinted cards and an Elemental token, with half of online proceeds benefiting Extra Life and Seattle Children's Hospital.
Sword of Truth and Justice, originally from Modern Horizons 2019, grants equipped creatures +2/+2 and protection from white and blue while enabling proliferate effects. Its combat damage ability places +1/+1 counters on a player's creature and proliferates all existing counters, offering strong value for counter-focused decks. The card's low equip cost of two mana makes it easy to deploy repeatedly, enhancing its utility in competitive formats like Commander.
Balefire Dragon, first printed in 2011's Innistrad, returns as a seven-mana 6/6 flying creature with a straightforward but devastating ability. Whenever it deals combat damage to a player, it deals that same damage to every creature that player controls, often crippling an opponent's board in a single attack. Non-foil copies typically sell for $15 to $20, making its inclusion in the set a notable draw for collectors and Commander players.
The collection also features Young Pyromancer and Big Score, both playable cards that support spells-matter and discard synergies. Rise of the Polygons | Extra Life 2026 launches November 16 on Magic's Secret Lair storefront, with foil versions priced at $49.99. Early access is available at MagicCon: Atlanta from November 13–15, though quantities will be limited.
