Nintendo's New Zelda Switch 2 Hardware Officially Arrives This Month
Nintendo’s Zelda-themed Switch 2 hardware launches October 29, priced at $519.99, alongside a $109.99 Pro Controller and accessories, all sold out on pre-order.
Nintendo announced a special Zelda-themed Switch 2 console and controllers, arriving October 29, one week before the Ocarina of Time remake. The hardware features a black, gold, and green color scheme inspired by Link and the Triforce of Courage, with triangle-shaped decals and the Triforce symbol. The console and controllers are sold separately, though the console includes themed Joy-Con 2 controllers. Nintendo also offers a carrying case, screen protector, and a Pro Controller with a Hyrule Castle display stand.
Pre-orders for the Zelda-themed Switch 2 console, priced at $519.99, are live but currently sold out. The Nintendo-exclusive Pro Controller with a display stand costs $109.99 and is also sold out. The standard Pro Controller, priced at $99.99, and the Zelda-themed carrying case and screen protector, priced at $39.99, are also sold out on pre-order. Nintendo has raised the price of the Switch 2 to $499.99, following earlier price hikes for other Switch models.
The new Zelda hardware coincides with the Ocarina of Time remake, releasing November 5 on Switch 2. Nintendo revealed first details and 15 minutes of gameplay, showcasing the console’s capabilities in reimagining Hyrule. The company also confirmed filming wrapped in spring 2026 on The Legend of Zelda film, starring Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link.
Nintendo’s price increases for Switch 2 and other models stem from an AI-driven component shortage affecting the gaming industry. While some fans criticized the higher cost for hardware that is not as powerful as rival consoles, special editions like this Zelda-themed release aim to mitigate dissatisfaction. Nintendo has already warned retail customers about the impending price hike.
