Nearly 30 years after the original *Thief: The Dark Project* debuted, Garrett’s story continues in *Pulse of Promise*, a newly announced graphic novel. Published by Bit Bot, the book arrives as an officially licensed expansion of the franchise’s lore. Polygon offers an exclusive first look at select pages ahead of the BackerKit campaign launch. The story is penned by Joshua Viola and Sean Eads, both known for their work in fantasy and horror narratives.

*Pulse of Promise* unfolds between *The Dark Project* (1998) and *Thief II: The Metal Age* (2000), positioning itself as a missing chapter rather than a reboot. The plot follows Garrett on a heist that uncovers forgotten Keeper secrets and hidden powers beneath the City. A young boy’s mysterious fate becomes central to the narrative, with familiar characters like Artemus and Father Karras reappearing. The collaboration with Eidos-Montréal ensures continuity with Garrett’s established lore during this era.

Artists Emanuele Ercolani and Gianluca Papi illustrate the graphic novel, while Jeremiah Lambert handles lettering. The campaign includes three hardcover editions, including a deluxe slipcase version with bonus behind-the-scenes material. An original soundtrack by Celldweller features new voice work from Stephen Russell, the original voice of Garrett.

The BackerKit campaign for *Thief: Pulse of Promise* is live now, offering collectibles such as a Garrett statue, plush, art prints, shirts, and a replica of his mechanical eye. The project provides a new entry point into the franchise without requiring a remake or sequel to bridge the gap in Garrett’s story.
