French lightweight PV module manufacturer Heliup has partnered with Elevate, a Holcim Group brand, to launch Solar Light TPO. The offer integrates Heliup’s Stykon PV modules with Holcim’s UltraPly TPO waterproofing membrane, available in thicknesses from 1.5 mm to 2 mm. The combined system weighs 7 kg/m², significantly lighter than conventional rooftop PV setups that typically range from 15 kg/m² to 20 kg/m².

The Solar Light TPO system requires no roof penetrations, additional rails, or ballast, enabling installation on flat roofs previously unsuitable for PV. It supports various roof designs, including pitched roofs, sawtooth roofs with slopes up to 100%, and curved surfaces. The system is suitable for both new construction and roof waterproofing renovations, expanding deployment opportunities across commercial, industrial, logistics, and public facilities.

Solar Light TPO has obtained an Enquête de Technique Nouvelle (ETN) and a Broof (t3) fire classification, meeting French regulatory requirements for buildings open to the public and facilities classified for environmental protection. The ETN allows PV panels to be installed up to two years after the membrane is laid, offering flexibility for phased project execution.

Heliup raised €16 million in March to accelerate deployment of its lightweight PV technology. The funds will strengthen commercial teams, expand production capacity at its 4,000 m² factory in Le Cheylas, and support technology development. The facility, operational since January 2025, can produce up to 100 MW annually, equivalent to about 500,000 m² of panels.
