The Reserve Bank of India published findings from its 2025-26 annual survey on software and IT-enabled services exports, covering 7,569 companies and receiving responses from 2,363 firms, including most large exporters. These companies represented approximately 89% of total estimated software services exports for the year. The survey gathered data on export types, delivery modes, destination countries, and invoicing currencies to provide a comprehensive overview of India’s software export landscape.

India’s software services exports, excluding sales through overseas commercial presence, reached $221.4 billion in 2025-26, marking an 8.2% increase from the previous year. Computer services accounted for over two-thirds of total software exports, while business process outsourcing (BPO) services dominated IT-enabled services exports. Private limited companies led the growth in software exports with a 9.3% rise during the year.

The United States remained the largest destination for India’s software exports, capturing 54.1% of the total share, followed by European countries at 31.8%, with the United Kingdom as the leading European market. The US dollar was the primary invoicing currency for software exports, followed by the euro, the rupee, and the pound sterling.

Software services exports were predominantly delivered through off-site modes, accounting for 91.7% of the total. Including services provided by foreign affiliates of Indian companies, total software export services rose by 9.5% to $239.3 billion in 2025-26. Local software business by foreign affiliates increased to $17.9 billion from $13.9 billion the previous year, with the US and UK as the major markets.
