Draw maps of a vampiric lighthouse that defies logic in This Is Not For You, the latest horror game inspired by House of Leaves
A new horror game, *This Is Not For You*, challenges players with a non-Euclidean lighthouse maze where movement defies logic, drawing inspiration from *House of Leaves*.
*This Is Not For You*, developed by Mexico-based studio Interactive Dreams, is a first-person horror game where players navigate a lighthouse that violates spatial rules. The protagonist, Ulysses, a shipwrecked sailor, enters a structure that is larger on the inside than the outside, with corridors that lead to impossible destinations. Movement within the lighthouse is deliberately disorienting, with directions and locations shifting unpredictably.
The game’s objective is to deactivate the lighthouse, a task that paradoxically requires players to disable the very mechanism trapping others inside. Players encounter other trapped figures, including a Magician who lost his magic and a Diver who cannot recall his name. Letters from a character named Aura are scattered throughout, which players may choose to burn.
A built-in map-drawing tool allows players to document their progress, with options to zoom and select colors. The game’s design encourages unconventional cartography, as the lighthouse’s shifting layout resists traditional mapping. The Steam page hints at deeper truths emerging over time, though specifics remain unclear.
The game warns that each step taken within the lighthouse drains the player’s blood, adding urgency to the escape. Scheduled for release next year, *This Is Not For You* follows Interactive Dreams’ previous experimental titles, including *Your Very Last Words* and *Swann’s Song*, which blend historical and literary influences.
