Samsung has enhanced Smart Switch and Quick Share with One UI 9 to ease the transition for iOS users moving to the Galaxy Z series. Smart Switch now supports QR code setup and wireless data transfer, while Quick Share adds AirDrop compatibility for cross-platform file sharing. These updates aim to reduce friction when switching ecosystems, particularly for users migrating from iOS devices. The changes are part of Samsung’s effort to make new device adoption smoother and more intuitive.

Smart Switch, Samsung’s data transfer app, now allows iOS users to move contacts, photos, messages, apps, settings, passwords, call history, accessibility settings, and eSIM information to a new Galaxy device without installing additional software. The upgrade enables wireless connection via QR code scanning, eliminating the need for cables or adapters. Previously supported data types have been expanded, ensuring more of a user’s digital life transfers seamlessly to the new device.

For users switching from iOS, the updated Smart Switch preserves familiar navigation and settings, such as swipe gestures and Home screen layouts, to minimize adjustment time. Samsung’s Good Lock app further allows customization of the Home screen and app switching. These features help recreate a user’s previous smartphone experience, making the transition to Galaxy devices more comfortable and reducing the learning curve associated with a new ecosystem.

Quick Share now supports AirDrop compatibility, enabling faster file sharing between Galaxy devices and iOS devices or PCs. This enhancement ensures continued ease of use for cross-platform sharing after the initial device setup. The updates are available on select flagship models, including the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, and Galaxy S26, with broader support planned. Data transfer is supported on devices running Android 17 or later and iOS 26.6 or later outside mainland China.
