Samsung’s Smart Switch app, updated with One UI 9, simplifies moving data from iOS or Android to new Galaxy Z Fold8 or Flip8 models. Users can now transfer passwords, call history, and eSIM information in addition to photos, messages, and contacts. The process no longer requires installing Smart Switch separately on iOS devices; a QR code scan initiates the transfer wirelessly. This reduces setup time and makes the new device feel familiar from the start.
One UI 9 also enhances Quick Share, Samsung’s file-sharing feature, enabling faster transfers between Galaxy devices and cross-platform compatibility with iOS via AirDrop. Users can share files without needing cables or adapters, streamlining both initial setup and ongoing use. The update expands supported data types, including accessibility settings, which helps maintain personalized configurations during the transition.
Beyond data transfer, One UI 9 allows users to customize swipe gestures, home screen layouts, and other key settings to match their preferences. The Good Lock app further enables personalization of the home screen and app switching. These options help recreate familiar navigation methods from previous devices, easing the adjustment period for those switching from iOS to Galaxy.
Samsung emphasizes reducing practical barriers between smartphone ecosystems by simplifying the switch process and improving cross-device sharing. The updates aim to make the transition to Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, or Galaxy Z Flip8 smoother, while maintaining compatibility with older One UI versions for continued sharing across platforms.
