Samsung Electronics To Establish HVAC Production Line in Korea

Samsung Electronics announced plans to establish a new HVAC production line in Gwangju, Korea, with an investment of approximately KRW 240 billion (USD 158 million). The 21,500m² facility is expected to begin operations by 2028 and will manufacture HVAC products from FläktGroup, acquired by Samsung last year. The company aims to expand its presence in the growing HVAC market, particularly in advanced cooling solutions for AI data centers.

Cheolgi Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Appliances at Samsung Electronics, stated that the acquisition of FläktGroup positions the company to expand its HVAC business as a new growth driver. The investment in the Gwangju production line is intended to support Samsung’s goal of becoming a global top-tier company by 2030, leveraging FläktGroup’s global manufacturing network.

FläktGroup, which operates 14 manufacturing facilities worldwide, recently expanded its footprint with a new facility in Pune, India, under Project GAGAN. The company supplies HVAC products across key markets including the U.S., Europe, and India. Samsung’s new Gwangju facility will be its 15th global manufacturing site and serve as a strategic base for entering the Korean HVAC market.

Samsung plans to supply HVAC infrastructure across industrial sectors in Korea, with a focus on meeting rising demand for AI data center cooling solutions. David Dorney, CEO of FläktGroup, highlighted the partnership’s potential to establish Samsung and FläktGroup as a leading HVAC provider in Korea and Asia, combining Samsung’s AI expertise with FläktGroup’s product capabilities.
