Under the partnership with NVIDIA, SK Telecom and SK Hynix will invest over $500 billion to build AI factories and supply next-generation AI memory, including HBM4.

SK Telecom announced its participation in the Open Secure AI Alliance, formalizing collaborations with NVIDIA, Microsoft, Anthropic, AWS, and OpenAI to strengthen AI infrastructure development. The agreements, announced at the K-AI Summit in San Francisco, focus on AI semiconductor supply, AI data center construction, and long-term memory partnerships, aiming to enhance South Korea’s AI competitiveness and global ecosystem integration.

Under the partnership with NVIDIA, SK Telecom and SK Hynix will invest over $500 billion to build AI factories and supply next-generation AI memory, including HBM4. SK Telecom plans to deploy NVIDIA’s DSX platform and Vera Rubin computing systems by 2027, targeting sovereign, physical, and agentic AI services to meet rising regional demand for high-performance AI infrastructure.

SK Telecom also signed a memorandum of understanding with Anthropic to co-develop gigawatt-scale AI data centers in Korea, leveraging prior strategic investments. Separately, the company expanded its existing partnership with AWS, combining domestic AI data center expertise with AWS’s global cloud and AI capabilities to secure long-term gigawatt-level computing capacity.

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won outlined three priorities for AI success: enabling every citizen to use at least one AI agent, reducing token costs through expanded memory and data center production, and establishing AI governance to mitigate risks while creating jobs and protecting the environment. He emphasized Korea’s potential to become a global AI infrastructure hub by accelerating domestic AI capacity and fostering international collaboration.
