SK announced expanded AI infrastructure partnerships with Nvidia, Microsoft, Anthropic, AWS, and OpenAI during the K-AI Summit in Silicon Valley, totaling over $500 billion in investments.
SK and Nvidia signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on AI infrastructure projects worth over $500 billion, including AI factories and AI memory supply. The agreement includes plans for SK Telecom to build up to 2GW of AI factory capacity using Nvidia’s DSX platform and SK Hynix’s Vera Rubin computing systems by 2027. The collaboration aims to accelerate the development of large-scale AI infrastructure to meet growing demand in Asia-Pacific while expanding access to advanced cloud services.
SK Hynix will enter a long-term AI memory supply partnership with Nvidia, focusing on next-generation memory solutions such as HBM to support AI workloads. Both companies will jointly develop and optimize memory solutions tailored to AI infrastructure needs, including large language models and agentic AI. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang highlighted Korea’s potential to become a global AI leader due to its strong semiconductor and data center capabilities.
SK Telecom and Anthropic agreed to collaborate on building GW-scale AI data centers in South Korea, following their existing strategic investment ties. The partnership will explore long-term infrastructure development, leveraging SK Telecom’s domestic AI data center construction expertise and Anthropic’s AI capabilities. Separately, SK Telecom and AWS will expand their existing Ulsan AI data center joint venture to enhance domestic AI infrastructure and secure long-term GW-scale computing capacity.
SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won outlined three priorities for AI success: ensuring every citizen uses at least one AI agent, reducing token costs through expanded memory production and AI data centers, and establishing AI governance to mitigate risks while creating jobs. He emphasized Korea’s role as a bridge between the U.S., Europe, and Asia in AI infrastructure, calling for accelerated collaboration to position the country as a global AI innovation hub.
