SK Telecom held a send-off ceremony for Team SKT athletes ahead of the 2026 Asian Games, introducing an AI-powered fencing analysis system and additional support staff.
SK Telecom hosted a send-off ceremony on September 26 at the Jincheon National Training Center for eight sponsored national athletes, including fencers Oh Sang-uk and Do Gyeong-dong, ahead of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. The event marked SKT’s third such gathering, following previous editions for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and the 2024 Paris Olympics, aiming to bolster Team SKT’s preparations.
The ceremony featured the unveiling of a ‘national cheer flag’ bearing messages collected through an online campaign, which was presented to Kim Taek-soo, director of the Jincheon National Training Center. Fan creators traveling to Nagoya to support Team SKT also attended, planning to document the athletes’ performances live.
SKT introduced its in-house developed fencing AI analysis system, SKT-FAN, which uses computer vision to automatically compile highlight reels and analyze opponents’ tactical patterns and weaknesses. The Korean Fencing Association reported high satisfaction among athletes and coaching staff during trial use.
SKT, a 24-year sponsor of the Korean Fencing Association, will deploy additional trainers and analysts to support athletes’ conditioning and performance. The company also plans to release content documenting Team SKT’s journey, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to the athletes’ success.
