Spotify and Genius Bring Fans Closer to the Music With New Video Series Partnership

Spotify is partnering with Genius to bring its popular video series, Open Mic and Verified, to its platform for the first time. Users can now stream full episodes of Open Mic, which features intimate live performances from both established and emerging artists. The series has amassed over 3.7 billion combined views since its 2016 launch, offering fans a closer look at their favorite musicians. The first new Open Mic episode features Grammy-winning rapper Rapsody performing her track 'Pick A Side' from her latest album.
New Open Mic episodes will be released every Thursday at 11 a.m. ET, alongside a curated selection of archival performances. Fans can now access past episodes featuring artists such as Bebe Rexha, Rod Wave, and Teddy Swims. The partnership expands the availability of Genius’ Verified series, which provides artist-led lyric breakdowns and creative insights. Verified has hosted notable figures like Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish, and Cardi B since its debut episode in 2016.
Verified episodes will premiere on Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m. ET, with the latest installment featuring Magnus Ferrell discussing his hit 'Asleep Talking.' The series gives artists a platform to share the stories behind their lyrics and creative processes. This expansion follows a successful initial rollout of Verified on Spotify, enhancing the platform’s music storytelling offerings.
