The link will remain active for 200 days, allowing customers sufficient time to view and save documents.

HM Land Registry announced that from 23 August 2026, customers will no longer receive documents as PDF attachments in emails. Instead, they will receive a secure link within the email to access correspondence such as requisitions, letters, and notices. The link will remain active for 200 days, allowing customers sufficient time to view and save documents. This change aims to improve security by reducing the risk associated with email attachments.

To access documents via the secure link, customers must enter the original recipient’s email address, ensuring only authorised individuals can retrieve the correspondence. If the email is forwarded, recipients can still use the link if they know the original email address. All emails will be sent from hm.land.registry@notifications.service.gov.uk, and customers are advised to add this address to their safe senders list to avoid missing correspondence.

The transition to secure links follows updates to Microsoft’s email software and will not affect customers receiving documents through the HM Land Registry Business Gateway APIs. The emails will continue to be sent using GOV.UK Notify, a secure government platform already in use for some notices. HM Land Registry will provide further updates and reminders to customers ahead of the change.

This adjustment ensures HM Land Registry maintains a secure and reliable service while adapting to technological changes. There are no changes to how PDFs appear in the portal, and customers connected via APIs will experience no disruption. The move reflects HM Land Registry’s commitment to enhancing security and service continuity.
