Lindy Cameron has been appointed Permanent Under-Secretary at the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, becoming its first female leader.
The UK government announced Lindy Cameron’s appointment as Permanent Under-Secretary (PUS) at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), following approval from the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary, and Cabinet Secretary. Cameron currently serves as British High Commissioner to India and previously led the National Cyber Security Centre. Her career includes senior roles in the Northern Ireland Office and the Department for International Development, spanning diplomacy, development, and national security. The appointment marks the first time a woman has held the role of PUS at the FCDO, highlighting a milestone in leadership diversity within the department.
Cameron expressed pride in leading the FCDO, emphasizing her commitment to advancing British values and interests through the department’s staff.
