Vercel announced changes to deployment retention for Hobby projects, reducing storage retention to free up space for active deployments. Hobby teams receive 10GB of Deployment Storage, and exceeding this limit can block new deployments until storage is freed. The update ensures dormant projects no longer hold unnecessary storage that active projects may require.

Each Hobby project will now retain only the three most recent production deployments and the three most recent deployments of any type, regardless of age. Preview deployments no longer receive separate protection, and the current production deployment remains exempt from deletion.

Exceptions to the retention policy include aliased and active-branch deployments, which continue to be protected. Teams exceeding the 10GB limit will see deployments outside these exceptions deleted immediately instead of after the previous 30-day window.

To manage storage, users can optimize usage or upgrade to a Pro plan, where additional storage is billed at $0.10 per GB per month. Full details on exceptions and retention policies are available in the documentation.
