AWS announces a new Availability Zone in the Europe (London) Region
AWS has launched a fourth Availability Zone in its Europe (London) Region, expanding cloud capacity and introducing next-generation AI and ML infrastructure for customers.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has added a fourth Availability Zone in the Europe (London) Region (eu-west-2), increasing infrastructure capacity to meet rising demand for cloud computing services. The new zone supports next-generation AI and machine learning workloads through accelerated instances such as Amazon EC2 Trn3 and P6, alongside general-purpose compute options. This expansion provides customers in the London Region with enhanced capacity for AI and ML tasks while improving fault isolation for building resilient architectures. The new Availability Zone (eu-west-2d) enables customers to distribute applications across four zones within eu-west-2, enhancing fault tolerance and supporting high availability deployments.
The update allows AI and ML teams to run model training and inference workloads using the latest accelerated instance types entirely within the London Region, without requiring cross-region data transfer. Existing AWS tools and workflows remain compatible, as the new zone integrates seamlessly with the AWS Management Console, APIs, and other services. Standard pricing for the Europe (London) Region applies, ensuring cost consistency for customers leveraging the expanded infrastructure. AWS has confirmed that no changes to existing tooling or configurations are required to access the new Availability Zone.
