Amazon EC2 C9g and C9gd instances, powered by AWS Graviton5 processors, are now available in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region, offering improved performance for compute-intensive workloads.
Amazon EC2 C9g and C9gd instances, powered by AWS Graviton5 processors, are now available in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region. These instances are designed for compute-intensive workloads and deliver up to 25% better compute performance compared to previous-generation Graviton4-based instances. The new instances are optimized for tasks such as databases, web applications, and machine learning, with performance improvements of up to 30% and 35% respectively.
The C9g and C9gd instances are built on the sixth-generation AWS Nitro System and introduce the Nitro Isolation Engine, which uses formal verification to ensure mathematical assurance of workload isolation. This provides a new standard for cloud security by ensuring customer workloads are isolated from each other and AWS operators. The instances are suitable for high-performance computing, batch processing, gaming, and scientific modeling.
C9gd instances offer additional local NVMe-based SSD block-level storage, catering to workloads requiring high-speed, low-latency local storage for scratch space, temporary files, and caches. This makes them ideal for applications such as video encoding, distributed analytics, and CPU-based machine learning inference. Both C9g and C9gd instances are available in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region.
Customers can purchase C9g and C9gd instances in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region through Savings Plans, On-Demand, Spot instances, Dedicated instances, or Dedicated hosts. These instances are designed to enhance compute performance for a range of workloads, including real-time analytics and ad serving.
