Hyundai Motor Group Partners with Oman to Drive Green Mobility Transition under Oman Vision 2040

Hyundai Motor Group formalized a partnership with Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology at the Gulf Green Mobility Forum, aligning with the national smart city strategy under Vision 2040. The agreement establishes a one-year framework for collaboration, renewable annually, with a focus on eco-friendly mobility solutions and urban development. Separate agreements were also signed with Oman’s public transport and energy sectors to advance pilot projects in sustainable transportation.

Oman’s national transport operator Mwasalat agreed to deploy Oman’s first hydrogen city bus, the ELEC CITY Fuel Cell, on Muscat’s public transit routes starting in the third quarter of 2026. The 24-seat bus will operate as a passenger service through the third quarter of 2027, allowing Mwasalat to assess its real-world performance against conventional diesel buses under daily transit conditions.

Oman’s energy distribution subsidiary OOMCO and EV charging brand EVO will collaborate with Hyundai Motor Group and Hyundai Kefico to install a 240kW DC ultra-fast EV charger at a service station in Halban, near Muscat. The charger is intended to evaluate charging performance, user demand, and commercial viability to inform future infrastructure expansion across Oman.

The partnership includes structured evaluations of both the hydrogen bus pilot and EV charging infrastructure, with results measured against pre-agreed key performance indicators. Based on these assessments, the involved organizations will explore scaling services and formalizing procurement agreements to support Oman’s sustainable mobility goals under Vision 2040.
